Absentee Ballots

No Reason Absentee Voting


Any voter wanting an absentee ballot may receive one for any reason upon request from the City Clerk's office. See below for details in how to apply.

Apply for an Absentee Ballot

You may apply for an absentee ballot in several ways

  • In person at the City Clerk's Office
  • Email a signed application to elections@rochestermi.org
  • Online via the Secretary of State's website: SOS - Absentee Voting
  • Deliver signed application to City Drop Box at Municipal Building
  • By mail with prepaid postage application

Returning a Voted Absentee Ballot


  • Return in person to the City Clerk
  • Deliver to the Drop Box at the Municipal Building
  • By mail using the prepaid postage envelope

Absentee Ballot Pre-processing

Absentee ballot pre-processing will be done Monday, November 6th, 2023 by the duly appointed absentee counting board in the second floor conference room in the Municipal Building at 400 Sixth Street beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 6th and ending by 4:00 p.m. the same day. 

Permanent Mail Ballot


An elector may receive an absent voter ballot by mail for all future elections by submitting a single, signed application. The Permanent Mail Ballot list will replace the Permanent Absentee Ballot Application List. To request to be placed on the list, submit a request in the same manner as above.
