b. 1827. She was the first person to be buried in the platted
cemetery. Her grave site is unknown. Her husband George Horton
(1741-1835) fought in the American Revolution as a private from
Pennsylvania under Captain Shoemaker, 1780-1783. (George Horton is not
buried in Mount Avon.) The family came to Avon Township in 1825. The Lively Town
tells us that "George Horton led 30 New Yorkers across Canada with four
wagons, eight yoke of oxen, one yoke of steers, four head of cattle, one horse,
14 sheep and eight swine."
