Winter in the City of Rochester has been very challenging this year for sidewalk safety.
February 17, 2022
Please be cautious when walking, as warm temperatures with rain and mixed precipitation has caused water ponding in many areas. It is anticipated that temperature will drop and the potential for additional snow is in the forecast. Please use caution.
If you notice a buildup of ice on your sidewalk, please remember the City Code requires each resident to clear the walks of snow and treat icy conditions.
The City of Rochester, and surrounding areas, has been experiencing warmer temperatures, and formerly icy surfaces have been melting. With additional rain in the forecast, followed by lower temperatures, it is likely we will see these wet surfaces freeze over again, which could lead to slick walking surfaces.
To residents who are out walking over the next few days: please take extra precaution during these rapidly changing weather conditions.
