About the Municipal Park
The City of Rochester's park system offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities. At Rochester Municipal Park, the recreation opportunities include:
- Sand volleyball
- Lighted tennis courts
- Open air shelters (the Kiwanis Shelter and the enclosed Lion's Shelter)
- A pond (for skating in the winter)
- Over a mile of paved walkway
- Two tot lots (one at the north end off Ludlow St. and one at the south end at the end of Pine St.)
Paint Creek meanders through the entire park. The Rochester Municipal Park is also home of the Rochester Community House, which is a not-for-profit service and banquet facility accessible from Ludlow St.
The City of Rochester allows wedding ceremonies to be held in the Municipal Park provided that you or your spouse is a Rochester resident, or you are utilizing the Rochester Community House for your reception. If you are interested in holding your wedding reception at the Community House, please call (248) 651-0622.
To conduct a wedding ceremony in the Municipal Park, contact the Park Superintendent at (248) 651-9061. If your wedding ceremony will include 100 or more attendees, the City Council must grant approval in advance.
